Stay safe while looking for work.

Recruitment scams can use genuine-looking job descriptions, recruiter identities and urgent messages. Use these checks before sharing information, clicking links or making payments.

If money has already been transferred in a suspected cyber financial fraud, act immediately. Call 1930 and report through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal without delay.

Common recruitment-fraud warning signs

A request does not become safe merely because the amount is small, the sender appears professional or the message uses an urgent deadline.

Never pay to get a job

Be cautious of registration fees, interview fees, security deposits, training fees, document fees, processing charges or payments to release an offer.

Never share passwords or OTPs

Do not share your RightFitJob password, OTP, PIN, recovery code or authentication code with a recruiter, employer or anyone claiming to be support.

Check links before clicking

Be cautious with unexpected links, shortened URLs and messages asking you to sign in immediately. Open RightFitJob through your normal trusted route instead.

Be careful with downloads

Do not install unknown applications, remote-access tools or files because someone says they are required for an interview or recruitment process.

Verify the opportunity

Check the employer, role, location, contact details and recruitment process. A verified contact channel does not automatically prove identity or qualifications.

Watch for artificial urgency

“Pay now”, “offer expires today”, “last interview slot” or threats that an opportunity will disappear unless you act immediately are warning signs. Stop and independently verify.

Beware of incremental payment traps

Fraud may begin with a small amount to make the first request appear harmless. After payment, another requirement can be introduced repeatedly.

One payment becomes another, then another

A scammer may present a sequence such as:

Registration feeVerification feeDocument feeSecurity depositTraining feeProcessing feeTax / release feeRefund fee

Do not judge a payment request only by the amount being requested now. Ask for the complete cost and terms before paying for any service.

If new mandatory charges keep appearing after each payment, stop making further payments and independently verify the employer or service.

Never pay under pressure

Urgency should never replace verification.

Warning signs

  • “Pay now or lose the opportunity.”
  • “Pay before your interview slot expires.”
  • “Send a refundable security deposit.”
  • “Pay to unlock your offer, salary or training.”
  • “Make this payment first; we will explain the next step later.”
  • Requests to transfer money to a personal bank account, UPI ID or wallet.
  • Requests for cryptocurrency or gift-card payments.

What to do

  1. Stop and do not make the next payment.
  2. Ask for the complete fee structure in writing.
  3. Verify the employer independently using trusted contact information.
  4. Preserve messages, payment records and other evidence.
  5. Report suspicious activity to RightFitJob.

🚨 Money already lost? Act immediately.

Do not wait for the fraudster to respond or ask for another payment.

Early reporting can improve the opportunity for authorities and financial institutions to act while transaction trails and funds may still be traceable. Recovery is not guaranteed, so do not delay.

Preserve the evidence

Do not delete conversations or alter records after a suspected fraud.

Payment evidence

Keep UPI/bank/wallet transaction details, UTR or transaction ID, transaction date, amount and recipient information.

Communication evidence

Keep WhatsApp/Telegram chats, emails, SMS messages, call details, voice messages and screenshots.

Identity & links

Keep phone numbers, email IDs, job advertisements, offer letters, website URLs, social-media profiles and documents received.

Need to make a complaint?

Use a factual complaint template to organize the information before submitting it to the appropriate authority. Do not add information that is not true or supported by your evidence.

Job-fraud complaint templates

Templates cover fake employers, advance and incremental payment fraud, fake interviews or offer letters, impersonation, phishing, WhatsApp/Telegram scams, UPI/bank fraud, fake internships, work-from-home scams and identity misuse.
